Artistic Program
Studio Program
The Artspace Studio Program provides rent-free residencies for contemporary artists at all career stages – from emerging to established.
Continuing a legacy of artistic innovation and collaboration on our site since 1983, the studios at The Gunnery in Woolloomooloo give artists space to take risks, experiment, collaborate and develop new artworks that shape public conversation. Through advocacy, curatorial dialogue and connections with local and international peers, the program supports artists’ careers and the creation of works that engage with the ideas of our time.
Since 2023, Artspace has offered 10 studio spaces, with residencies extending to two years from 2026.
The Artspace Studio Program is generously supported by our visionary community of benefactors: Lisa Chung, David Cleary, Amanda & Andrew Love, Susan Manford Studio, Alenka Tindale and the Turnbull Foundation. Studio 11 is generously supported by the Biennale of Sydney and the Goethe-Institut Australia.
