On the final weekend of Collapse Euphoria, Marion Abraham will present a lecture on the evolution of her painting practice, followed by a conversation with exhibition curator Sarah Rose.
Abraham’s work is caught within echoes of the past and the shared affects of our present moment. Working through and against the legacies of canonised art history, her paintings emerge with marks of today’s political realities. The artist's new work for the Ideas Platform, Collapse Euphoria, 2025, draws from the tradition of pastoral portraiture to explore how one remains attuned and functional—elated even, despite all rationality—in the midst of gradual social and environmental collapse. This lecture will trace the process behind Abrahams’s Ideas Platform commission and the persistent questions that guide her practice.
