Artspace Welcomes Angela Goh to Studio 11
Artspace is pleased to welcome dancer and choreographer Angela Goh to Studio 11, where she will prepare for the performances and presentation of newly commissioned works for the 16th Gwangju Biennale and the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art.
Studio 11 is part of Artspace’s ongoing commitment to providing artists with the space, resources and connections needed to develop and produce ambitious new work. The program provides artists with rent-free access to studio space at The Gunnery, alongside access to Artspace’s purpose-built performance facilities, including the Multipurpose Space. Following the transformation of The Gunnery, this expanded infrastructure has enabled Artspace to extend its support to artists working across visual art, performance, choreography and other interdisciplinary practices.
Through Studio 11, Artspace is proud to support Angela's newly commissioned works for the 16th Gwangju Biennale and the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art. The residency provides dedicated time, space and production support for research, experimentation and making, reinforcing Artspace's commitment to helping Australian artists realise ambitious projects for leading international exhibitions and biennales.
Artspace Executive Director, Victor Wang said:
'Supporting Australian artists on the international stage is a core part of Artspace’s mission. We work closely with artists and leading cultural institutions to provide the space, resources and partnerships needed to realise ambitious new work and create opportunities beyond Australia. We’re delighted to support Angela as she develops new commissions for the 16th Gwangju Biennale and the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art.'
Studio 11 resident artist, Angela Goh said:
'Dedicated and focussed studio space is crucial for the creation of new work. I thank Artspace for supporting me in the final preparations for my projects in both Gwangju and Lyon by offering Studio 11 as a base to work from, and, beyond these biennale projects, supporting my practice with ongoing access to space to do my work.'
