Virginia Keft

Muruwari woman Dr Virginia Keft is an interdisciplinary artist working across weaving, textiles, sculpture and installation. Using natural materials, her practice centres Country, truth-telling and cultural continuity through a First Nations lens. Working slowly with gathered materials over time, Keft creates environments that foreground cyclical relationships between people, Country and cultural knowledge.

Keft holds a PhD (Medalist) from the University of Wollongong and is Producer of bangawarra Art Yarns at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. In 2025, she exhibited at Galerie Handwerk, Munich, and won the People’s Choice Award at Sculpture in the Garden Wollongong.
