Rindon Johnson

Rindon Johnson is an artist and poet whose work is grounded in language. He has presented solo exhibitions at Rockbund Art Museum, Bergen Kunsthall, CC Strombeek, Albertinum, Chisenhale Gallery, SculptureCenter and The Julia Stoschek Collection, among others. In 2024, he was invited to the 60th Venice Biennale curated by Adriano Pedrosa, and has also participated in the Whitney Biennial, alongside group exhibitions at MoMA PS1, The Hammer Museum, Simian, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, the Brooklyn Museum, The Studio Museum in Harlem and Haus der elektronischen Künste, among others.

Johnson is the author of Nobody Sleeps Better Than White People (Inpatient, 2016), Meet in the Corner (Publishing-House.Me, 2017), Shade the King (Capricious, 2017) and The Law of Large Numbers: Black Sonic Abyss (Chisenhale, Inpatient, SculptureCenter, 2021). His writing has appeared in Flash Art, The Brooklyn Rail, Artforum, T Magazine and CURA, among others. He was the recipient of the Ernst Reuter Prize for Sculpture in 2022 and is Associate Chair of Painting at the low-residency MFA, Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College. He was born on the unceded territories of the Ohlone people in San Francisco.
