Jasmine Miikika Craciun

Jasmine Miikika Craciun’s artistic practice spans a diverse range of mediums, including digital illustration, murals, textiles, sculpture, video, and installation. Rooted in her diverse familial background encompassing Barkindji, Malyangapa, Romanian, and Austrian identity, Jasmine celebrates ancestral resilience. As both an Aboriginal woman and second-generation 'Australian,' she navigates the complexities of identity with an artistic vision that transcends a single artistic medium.

Central to Jasmine’s practice are the themes of place, home and displacement. Her work reflects the emotional and cultural impact of these concepts on her identity, often inviting viewers to engage in a dialogue about the relationship between personal narratives and broader historical contexts. By exploring these themes, she highlights how histories of migration, colonisation and belonging shape not only individual lives but also collective memory and identity.

Jasmine describes her practice as a physical manifestation of the stories and memories her grandparents have shared with her.
