Public Talk | 'Performative Writing' Anna Gibbs

Public Talk | 'Performative Writing' Anna Gibbs
When
| Tuesday 5 April, 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Location | Artspace, Level 2, Seminar Room

Overview

As part of The Bureau of Writing, the talk by Anna Gibbs on 'Performative Writing' will address, sometimes by demonstration, sometimes by explanation, some of the different modalities of such work, from fictocritical methods to ways of writing in collaboration with life forms like plants or algorithms, provoking questions of who or what performs and for whom.

Anna Gibbs is a Professor of Writing in the School of Humanities and Communication Arts at Western Sydney University, where she is also a member of the Writing and Society Research Centre and the Digital Humanities Research Group.

The Bureau of Writing is a collaborative writing program designed for artists and presented alongside the 20th Biennale in association with Artspace. Conceived to highlight emerging or underrepresented practices in art and writing, it is inspired by key concepts explored in 'The future is already here – it’s just not evenly distributed': the ‘in-between’, and the blurring of traditional boundaries between art forms.

The Bureau of Writing has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body. It has been made possible through the generous support of the Keir Foundation.

This event is FREE. Everyone welcome.
