Overview

Exhibiting artists Peter Robinson and Jonathan Jones are joined by Blair French for a public conversation on their concurrent gallery projects at Artspace.

Peter Robinson works with polystyrene — a non-biodegradable thermo-plastic — to develop spectacular environments of compelling beauty. Robinson pursues multiple formal trajectories in his use of polystyrene, as if with its associations of disposability the possibility exists for any number of sculptural experiments to be tested, cast aside, reworked, reconsidered.

In both discrete sculptural works and large installations Jonathan Jones works with light as both material and immaterial substance, utilising it’s potent symbolic force as well as asserting specific reference to indigenous design and tradition as well as to histories of representation across cultures.
