Overview

Seeker used a series of large-scale projections and screen based works to explore migration, territorial boundaries, conflict, commodities and human displacement.

Using a touch screen interface, participants mapped their own personal migration history on a world map: where they are today, where they live and where their parents and grandparents were born and currently live. A second screen shows panning satellite imagery of cities overlaid with moving text of news feeds, the text describing incidents where people have died attempting to seek refuge in another country. The third and final screen consisted of animated curves representing population migration data and the effect conflict resources such as tantalum, diamonds and oil have on the displacement of people.

The images shot by the artists in Africa, Australia and India connected contemporary issues represented in various global media.
