Overview

This work was the result of a dream of Carla Cescon's where Joey Ramone approached her from across a crowded room and initiated a conversation that was so warm and witty it made her fall in love with him. After waking from the dream she decided to search for him. Night Crawlers & Shape-shifters: 100 Days and Nights in Search of the Ramones incorporated sound, video, sculpture and wall text transcribed from the journal of a 100-day vigil. Tracking the plight of a fan's obsessive desire to bring back from the dead Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone through Electronic Visual Phenomena (the close monitoring of white noise through television and video play back) the Gallery space became a platform for a kind of mad devotion derived from a lack of sleep and dextro-amphetamine. In essence this echoes the portrayal of the maniacally obsessed in cinema, or a stalker willing to take it beyond the grave.
